A little about me:
I spent the first years of my professional life as a music educator. I took a pause from teaching to care for my young, growing family, with the expectation that I would be back in education soon. However, life has a way of detouring the best of plans, and with the birth of my last child, who has special needs, I found myself, instead, navigating the world of physical, occupational, and speech therapies as well as school IEPs and special needs classrooms for many years. During this time, I developed a desire to better help families, couples and individuals who struggle with their own challenges, which led to me pursuing a masters degree in Marriage and Family therapy. I am now honored to work with families, couples, and individuals who seek to build more authentic relationships through improved communication as they struggle with challenges unique to them.
In today’s world, the pressure to present a flawless image—to our community, colleagues, family, and even our partners—can be overwhelming, often leading to exhaustion and anxiety. Even when we long to show our true, vulnerable selves, the fear of not being "enough" and facing rejection can hold us back. I love to work collaboratively with my clients to navigate these fears, fostering deeper connections and a greater sense of authenticity in relationships. I know that reaching out for help can feel difficult, but on the other side of that fear lies the hope for something better.
I use principles from Bowen Family Systems, RLT (relational life therapy), IFS (internal family systems), ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy), DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy), CPT (Cognitive processing therapy) and CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) to inform my practice.
